Feedly - An Amazing Source for #Authres

My favorite source for #authres (authentic resources) is my Feedly account. For tech novices, Feedly is an online service that allows you to search for, subscribe to and read blogs and other web content in one place. I don't have to go to dozens of sites to read what is current on my favorite blogs, I can add them to Feedly (or subscribe through Feedly) and every time new content is published on those blogs my account updates and organizes the new material for me to read at my convenience. Also, I can access Feedly in a variety of ways. I can access it on my computer via the Internet, on my smart phone via a free app or on a tablet. It replaced my Google Reader account and while I was initially devastated to lose Reader, I am finding that I like Feedly even better.

The reason why I love it so much is because it is always searching for more resources for me. I have collected a long list of Spanish language blogs that I read in search of relevant #authres to use in my classroom and share with other Spanish teachers. I can keep adding quality sources to my collection because Feedly analyzes what I am reading and suggests other similar blogs to me.

This is part of the list of blogs I subscribe to. You can see their titles and then just to the right how many new posts have been published.
This middle column shows me a preview of the new posts the blog has published. When you hover over them additional icons appear that give you options to save the post, mark it as read, and
In this column you can see the new suggestions Feedly has for me to consider.
Helpful Features for Searching for #Authres

Language

As a part of its service you can set the language you want Feedly to use to find content for you, so if you are a language teacher this is great because you don't have to scour the Internet yourself. You can also create a variety of lists to organize your reading. I am considering organizing my my the topics of the units I teach or at least by themes.

Adding Content
Another helpful feature is the "Add Content" button at the top left of the Feedly dashboard. I use this when I find something new on the web that isn't already linked into Feedly. I click that button and paste the new link into a text box and if Feedly can gather its content, it will add it to my collection.

Video and Audio, too!
You can even subscribe to your YouTube subscriptions through Feedly as well. Again the beauty here is that you don't have to go to YouTube separately and catch up on new material posted in your subscriptions. I love this because I am all about saving steps and time!

Sharing
Feedly also gives loads of options for sharing great content you find with colleagues, friends and family. You can share anything you want to any social media from Feedly in just two clicks!

Lots of Options, but...
I know there are lots of options for feed readers out there, but I have really enjoyed the look, feel and options that Feedly offers. My connections to authentic language content have grown greatly from using it. Feedly makes me look like an authentic resource genius, when really I just made a really smart choice about what I use to manage the content I am interested in. Even if you decide not to use Feedly to organize your reading, investigate the options your feed reader gives you in looking for authentic resources in the language(s) you teach. There is a wealth of material waiting for you to find it.

Have fun reading and
Happy Coaching!

I love Feedly for my non-Spanish related blogs. What are the Spanish blogs that you subscribe to? I would love to have a great place to start. Thanks!

I love feedly! I hadn't used it much for exploring new things yet; thanks for inspiring me. I was also thinking this might be a good way to get our kids exploring in the language, at least for upper levels- genius hour inspiration, SSR, etc. Our students all have district Gmail accounts; just a couple clicks and they're exploring in no time!
