One of the things I appreciate the most in people is their ability to be candid with me both about themselves, but also when they need to tell me something in correction. So, it seems I have an apology to make for a post I wrote. In the blur of tweets flying through cyberspace about Genius Hour this and Authentic Resources that, I misunderstood something someone said to me that led me to think that the comments being tweeted out were insulting. The bottom line is that I didn't read carefully enough. The idea of my favorite professionals going at each other grieved me, so I wrote my "Keep It Classy" post, but I should have dug deeper before I opened my proverbial mouth. I strive to hold myself accountable when I am wrong, so I went back and read EVERYTHING again looking for where I went wrong. There it was, right in the tweets. What I misunderstood to be sarcasm and insinuated insult was simple TRUTH. While I did see some defensiveness, I didn't see ugliness. For that reason, please accept my apologies for making you second guess yourselves or for making you feel bad. That was not my intent. I was playing "momma bear" to this group and like so many "momma bears" I jumped the gun.
My two takeaways from this situation are these:
1. Keep Calm and Read More Carefully AND
2. This PLN must be pretty amazing to make me feel so protective of it.
Forgive me, friends.
